The event begins at 6 pm at The Central, located at 603 Markham Street in Toronto.

Myna Wallin is a poet, prose writer & editor living in Toronto. She has published A Thousand Profane Pieces and Confessions of a Reluctant Cougar, both with Tightrope Books. Her career is taking a sexy turn with a presenter’s gig at The Sixth Annual Feminist Porn Awards this month, and a position teaching erotic writing at U of T’s School of Continuing Studies next fall. Myna’s novel was reviewed recently in the Globe as a “an admirable act of bravery.”

Myna Wallin will be giving a workshop on Saturday, April 16th, Freeing Your Erotic Self in Poetry or Prose.

The goal of this workshop is to find a vocabulary for the erotic self; writers will explore ways of describing their characters’ lives fully and unselfconsciously, to enhance the story or poem at hand. Exploring your sensual self can be exciting, freeing. How much is too much sex; how much is not enough? By incorporating just the right amount of eroticism into your writing you will add a level of depth and authenticity to your writing.

Myna WallinPatrick Connors interviews Myna Wallin on Open Book Toronto, and they discuss Myna’s latest book, Confessions of a Reluctant Cougar.

From the interview:

“Humour saves us from taking ourselves too seriously,” Wallin told me. “In moments of disappointment, depression; in every situation no matter how dire, there is a moment of pathos. In every moment of happiness, the fear of growing old, getting sick.”
