Submission Call Reminder – Poets Love Letters!

Heart in EnvelopeAttention Poets! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Tightrope Books is creating  an new exciting anthology to be edited by Jeanette Lynes and David Eso. The book’s working title is Love Letters: from the Lives of Canadian Poets.

The editors are assembling the first anthology of love letters by Canadian poets, known and unknown. The editors are seeking communiqués by poets regarding relationships of romantic love.  From courtship to heartache, from telegrams to emails, this collection will run the gamut.

HOW TO SUBMIT: (You must be a poet and a Canadian citizen or permanent Canadian resident)

Create a cover page for the editors with the following:

  • Name
  • Contact information
  • Birth date AND the Date of composition of the letter.
  • A brief bio (not exceeding 200 words).

Transcribe/transpose your  letter(s) into an electronic document format (preferably Word) or scan the original letter and create a pdf.  Remember, passionate emails are considered letters for our purposes! We will consider publishing your submission anonymously, if requested in the cover letter. The name of the recipient may also remain anonymous.  In some cases, we will consider including replies, addressed to the poet.

Submission Call: Poems Inspired by Films

Tightrope Books is delighted to announce I Found It at the Movies. This forthcoming anthology seeks new and previously published poems inspired by cinema. All styles and approaches welcome. We’re looking for poems that reference specific films or actors, genres of film, the act of movie-going or video-watching, or the intersections of movies and life.

Editors are Ruth Roach Pierson and Sue MacLeod, and the publication date is spring 2013. Please submit from one to five poems (1 to 5), as attachments, to filmpoems@gmail.com, along with a brief  biography. We will send an acknowledgment upon receipt, and hope to complete our selection process by October 2012. Please include full publication details for any poems which have appeared or been accepted elsewhere. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent Canadian resident. Submission deadline: March 31, 2012.

Diaspora Dialogues Open Call For Submissions

Diaspora DialoguesDiaspora Dialogues has announced their 2011 open call for submissions for their publishing/mentoring program.

If you are an emerging writer in the Greater Toronto Area and write short stories, poetry or creative nonfiction, then they are looking for you!

Diaspora Dialogues is committed to supporting a literature of Toronto that is as diverse as the city itself. Writers are encouraged to keep this mandate in mind, but addressing this theme directly is not essential in the submission. The setting of the works must be, at least in part, the greater Toronto region.
