Parkdale Street Writers, a writing group in the west end of Toronto for youth ages 16-25, is holding graphic novel writing workshops on Tuesday nights for the next few weeks. Leading these workshops (hosted at 1303 Queen Street West from 5-7 p.m.) is the illustrator of the award winning graphic novel No Girls Allowed: Tales of Daring Women Dressed as Men for Love, Willow Dawson.
This is a chance for those of you who love to draw to show off and improve upon your abilities. Those who are shy about your art need not worry. Willow loves working with people who have different interests and approaches when it comes to the genre. It’s lots of fun with no pressure!
Willow Dawson is also the illustrator for other graphic novels and is the creator of a new, upcoming, graphic novel for Kids Can Press and 100 Mile House, a semi-autobiographical graphic novel. Willow is a part of the Writer’s Union of Canada, JacketFlap, RAID Studio, and Illustration Mundo. In her spare time, she plays the saw and sings in the band Pink Moth!
