John Keats Tribute Contest

Write a poem to or about John Keats for the Tribute to John Keats contest hosted by the World Poetry Reading Series (in beautiful BC).

1. Write a one page poem to or about the famous poet John Keats.

2. Font 12.

3. Include your name and a copyright symbol. One time copyright only.

4. Deadline for poems: September 12.

5. Send all entries to Ariadne Sawyer at: ariadnes@uniserve.com before September 12.

Prizes: Three selected poets will receive a movie pass for two, your poem read on The World Poetry Café Radio Show and selected poem swill be published in the Electronic newsletter.

World Poetry Reading Series, World Poetry Café and Electronic Newsletter is pleased to announce a new partnership with TVA films for their film BRIGHT STAR which will be opening in major theatres across Canada.

The film is BRIGHT STAR, which is a historic love story about the life and times of the famous poet John Keats, will be premiering as a favorite at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. It stars Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw and is directed by Academy Award Winner Jane Campion. It is a very special film to the studio and the surrounding literature, poetry and spoken word community in many cities across Canada and throughout the US and England because of the impact Keats had on the literary world.

The three winners and selected others will be read on the World Poetry Café, September 15.

The winning passes are for the special showing on September 16. Each pass is worth $25 and you can bring a guest.

*In the Vancouver area, selected poets may read a poem before the showing.
