They say you can’t go home again, but they’re wrong! It was a blast being in my old hometown for the Montreal launch of Fortune Cookie. My Toronto launch was a fabulous but “official” affair, while the Montreal release was like a pajama party with some of my oldest pals.

In addition to residents of la belle ville, I was thrilled to present the book to friends from Edmonton, Guelph, Halifax, and Vancouver. Cindy A., a former Georgia Straight compatriot and one-time Atlantic Books Today reviewer introduced me, while my friend of 27 years, Alexandra W., put her long-time bookselling expertise to good use at the sales table. For the first time ever I read sitting down, which perfectly matched the low-key tone of the night.

Thanks to everyone who came out and to the Shaika café for serving up delicious trays of tapas. They make mighty fine Margaritas too ;)
